An Introduction to Headstone Sales

Headstone sales are a different type of sale. You can tell the character of a headstone company by how they handle their sales. Here are some of the qualities you should look for in a good headstone services company regarding sales.

They do not "hard sell."

They know that you have suffered a loss. They are considerate of that and do not use it to their advantage.

They do not push "add on" sales.

Accessories like flower vases, eternal lights and flags can be purchased at a later date. A good company will gladly place an order. But they also will let you know that the "add on" can also be purchased later.

Their headstone sales are done with attention to details.

During your time of need, your frame of mind is such that you don't want to be bothered with details. A representative should confirm your cemeteries rules and regulations, offer help with the headstone design, and be willing to keep you informed during the whole process - without you having to ask!

They have experienced customer service representatives.

The reps should be fully trained to assist you no matter what type of headstone, monument or marker you are interested in buying. They should be knowledgeable in all aspects of sales, regulations, design and delivery of headstones.

Their representatives are familiar with the local cemeteries.

Cemeteries have very specific rules. Your headstone company's reps should be familiar with the local cemetery's rules and regulations. If not, they should be able to pick up a phone and quickly find out what you need.

Note: Try to buy a headstone locally. Do not buy a headstone over the Internet because most cemeteries require a permit and have size requirements. A cemetery may require a professional to install the headstone or they may do it themselves. The cost to ship a headstone is often burdensome. Take into consideration that a single flat granite headstone weighs approximately 185 pounds.

They should treat you like family.

Most importantly, you should be treated like family. At Monuments of Distinction we have decided to treat people like family because that's how we would want our sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, mothers and dads to be treated in their time of need.

At Monuments of Distinction, we prefer our headstones sales to be face to face with our customers in our office. This way we have the best chance to help you get the perfect headstone for your loved one. Having said that, we also do some phone sales and we even do "house calls" when necessary in our local areas.

Whether in the office, over the phone or at your home our reps try their best to keep all of the above points in mind during our headstone sales. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

When pricing a headstone remember that cemetery regulations play an important role. If you need help with the details of headstone prices contact your local headstone services company. If you live in the tri-state area (PA, NJ, DE) you may contact us.
